Getting here from Robbins
There is not much to explain. Robbins sits on US-27 and so do we.
- Get on US-27 / Scott Highway heading north out of Robbins.
- Stay on it for about 5.3 miles. You will pass the Huntsville area and the TN-63 junction on your way through — keep going.
- Turn off onto Glasshouse Road — about a third of a mile from the highway to the gate at 344 Glasshouse Road.
- Enter your code at the keypad. That is the whole trip.
About 5.6 miles, roughly 9 minutes. One turn off the highway at the very end, and nothing before it.
Why this works for Robbins
Robbins is the southern end of the county — the direction you come from if you are running up out of Morgan County or off I-40 through Harriman and Sunbright. Houses here tend to sit on more land than they do in town, which changes what people need storage for. It is less "no room in the garage" and more "I have got a pole barn full of things that should not be rained on and equipment I would rather not leave sitting out."
Steel containers suit that. They handle weather the way a shed does not, they lock properly, and at $70 a month you are not paying metro rates to keep a mower deck, a set of tools, or the contents of a relative's house dry while an estate gets sorted out.
The towing angle is the other draw. A lot of people in the Robbins area are hauling something — a bass boat, a bumper-pull camper, a landscape trailer. Backing into a tight urban facility with any of that is miserable. Five miles of four-lane highway and an open lot is not.
Landmarks along the way
- US-27 through Robbins — the start line; the route never leaves this road.
- Huntsville and the TN-63 junction — roughly the midpoint of the drive.
- Sunbright and Harriman to the south — the US-27 run down toward I-40, which is why this lot also works for drivers, not just households.
- Big South Fork access northwest of Huntsville — a common weekend destination for the boats and campers we park.
