Getting here from Winfield
Winfield sits at the top of the county near the Kentucky line. US-27 is the road out, and it is also the road in — you are on it for essentially the entire trip.
- From Winfield, make your way onto US-27 / Scott Highway heading south.
- Run about 5.6 miles south into Oneida, where US-27 is signed as Alberta Street and Alberta Avenue. Stay straight through town.
- Continue south on Scott Highway for roughly another 7.2 miles.
- Turn onto Glasshouse Road on the left, east side of the highway, and follow it about a quarter mile to 344 Glasshouse Road. Keypad at the gate.
About 13.1 miles, roughly 18 minutes. Oneida is the only town you pass through.
Why Winfield renters use us anyway
We will be straight about this: eighteen minutes is further than the other towns on this site. What makes it worth it is what is actually available up near the state line. Winfield and Pine Knot are small, and the facilities that exist tend to be drive-up units sized for boxes — not somewhere you can leave a fifth-wheel or a car hauler.
So the Winfield traffic we see is mostly the stuff that needs room: campers between trips, boats over the winter, a second vehicle, an enclosed trailer for a side business. Those are monthly-visit items, not daily-visit items, and for monthly visits the drive stops mattering.
The other group is drivers. Winfield sits on the US-27 corridor that carries traffic up into Kentucky, and owner-operators who live at this end of the county but cannot keep a tractor at the house use the lot as a home base. Nightly stays go through Truck Parking Club; monthly spaces are a phone call.
Landmarks along the way
- The Kentucky state line and Pine Knot — just north of Winfield; if you are coming down from there, add a few minutes.
- Oneida — the midpoint, and the only town you drive through.
- Big South Fork — west of the US-27 corridor, the destination for most of the campers and boats stored here.
- Fairview and the Helenwood stretch — the last few miles before the gate.
